The simple answer is no. Performance Lab Vision does not contain zinc. While Zinc has been shown to help maintain the health of the retina, it has its fair share of flaws.

This is probably because of the dangers associated with taking too much of it, including worsening AMD, elevating blood pressure, headaches, nausea, vomiting, and indigestion.

What are the Negative Effects of Consuming Excessive Zinc?

Zinc supplementation is associated with many benefits for your eyes. But why do experts still appear to caution people against using zinc supplements?

Well, this is because studies suggest that too much of this mineral can damage the cells in the retina.

For instance, a 2017 study on Science Daily suggests that zinc could play a role in the development of macular degeneration (AMD). In the study, the researchers found deposits considered the hallmarks of AMD to contain large amounts of Zinc.

A 2004 peer-reviewed study appearing on PUBMED even linked high zinc intake to elevated systemic blood pressure.

This, therefore, explains why searches for “ARED2 without zinc” are also becoming popular. But how much of this mineral is too much? Well, the recommended dosage per day is 40 mg in adults. The problem is that some supplement manufacturers are including it in huge quantities.

Any Other Side Effects Associated with Too Much Zinc Supplementation?

If taken in high doses or for long periods, zinc may cause copper deficiency. And as you might know, copper deficiency can lead to neurological problems, muscle weakness, low white blood cell count, and anemia.

Additionally, certain medications such as antibiotics and some diuretics used to help control blood pressure may have negative interactions with this mineral.

So, overall, it will be fair to say that Performance Lab Vision is highly safe yet efficient since it does not contain zinc.
